ARTIST REGISTRATION
New Collectables is an annual event presented by RMIT Union [Arts] at First Site Gallery. It aims to provide RMIT students with an opportunity to exhibit their artworks, and a professional environment in which to offer their work for sale to the public.
The gallery will host a live auction of artworks on December 10, and will be open for backroom sales and viewing from 9 - 11 December. Union [Arts] takes no commission on sales, and there are no expenses for students to enter work. RMIT students from any course or field of study can contribute work to the event.

MORE INFORMATION
Submission of Artwork
Work must be submitted to First Site Gallery between 10am and 2pm, Monday 7 December, or by prior appointment to the RMIT Union Arts office. Only work of a saleable nature can be submitted to the New Collectables Auction. Each artwork must be of good quality, in good condition, and ready to hang.
Selection of Artwork
Only 80 artworks can be auctioned on the night. A committee convened by the Event Coordinator will select the works for auction based on the criteria of ‘sale-ability', quality, and diversity of artform/medium. Work that is not selected will be retained and put forward for backroom sales. The committee's decision is final and no discussion will be entered into.
Backroom Sales
Works not selected to be auctioned will be put forward for backroom sales in the Gallery from Wednesday 9th - Friday 11th. Works will be sold directly to patrons for a price negotiated by Gallery staff. No works will be sold for less than the reserve price nominated by the artist.
Reserve Price
Each artwork must have a reserve price nominated. This is the lowest price you will accept for your work. The auctioneer will try to raise the bidding well above this price but if the reserve is not reached the work will not be sold. The reserve price, once set, is not negotiable. Don't undersell your work, but be realistic. Do not set a reserve price over $250.
Unsold work must be collected on Monday 14th December between 10 am and 6pm from the Union [Arts] office.
SALES
No commission will be taken on sales. The Gallery acts as a selling agent for artists and will make payment by direct deposit or cheque for the total amount of sales within two weeks of the auction, upon receipt of an invoice or statement by supplier forms.
• Artists who have an ABN should provide an invoice - click to download a sample invoice
• If you don't have an ABN please complete a Statement by Supplier form, so we don't have to withhold tax from your payment.
